 Court Affiliates

Welcome to the Courtroom 21 Court Affiliates website.  Our Court Affiliate program is sponsored by the Center for Legal and Court Technology (CLCT) at the College of William & Mary School of Law and by the National Center for State Courts.  Our mission is to employ useful, efficient, and economical legal technology to enhance the search for justice.  Using CLCT’s Courtroom 21 Project, the world center for courtroom technology, as its communications hub, Affiliates work to minimize unnecessary duplication of effort, conserve financial and personnel resources, and promote compliance with the legal and pragmatic needs of the courts and those they serve.  Through their mutual cooperative efforts, Affiliates act to determine best practices and disseminate them among Affiliates, and, as appropriate, other legal organizations.

In today’s world, there is a need for more effective means of exchanging critical technical, legal, and practical information.  The Court Affiliates program is open to those courts that have or plan to have technology-augmented courtrooms.

GOALS

Our primary goal is to help courts avoid reinventing the wheel.  The Court Affiliates program is designed to serve as an interactive information exchange system.  For example, we offer a robust members-only Internet forum with information on technical standards, legal analyses of the use of courtroom technology, and regular e-newsletter on trends and technology.  Through CLCT, we offsite and in-person courtroom construction consulting services.
